GRÄFE UND UNZER VERLAG GmbH traces its history back to a bookshop founded in Königsberg (now Kaliningrad) in 1722. As the "Haus der Bücher" (House of Books), it had expanded into Europe`s largest bookstore by the late 1920s. Following World War II, the company relocated to Bavaria, where it began restructuring in the 1960s as a modern publisher of guides and self-help books. In 1990, the Munich publishing house became part of the GANSKE VERLAGSGRUPPE.
Specialising in Cooking, Body & Soul, Couples, Parents & Family, House & Garden, Living & Learning, GRÄFE UND UNZER VERLAG is now one of Europe`s premier four-color illustrated reference publishers. Over the years, GRÄFE UND UNZER VERLAG has established three brands: GU, HALLWAG, TEUBNER, each targeting the needs of their readers as accurately as possible. We strive to publish books which combine authoritative and informed writing with cutting edge design and brilliant photography. Many of our authors have been with us for years and decades and have won international acclaim.
To reach our various target groups, we sell our books not only through traditional book retailers but also through outlets relevant to particular segments i.e., furniture stores, pet stores, garden centers, drugstores and others.
